Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2024

Introduction

Look, we get it - nobody really enjoys reading privacy policies. But here's the thing: we genuinely care about your personal info and want you to understand what happens with it when you interact with us at Blazorn Valthara Architecture.

We're not some massive corporation with layers of legal jargon. We're a design studio based in Vancouver, and we've tried to keep this as straightforward as possible. This policy covers our website, any consultations you have with us, and basically any time you're dealing with our team.

By using our website or services, you're agreeing to the practices described here. If something doesn't sit right with you, reach out - we're always happy to chat about it.

What Information We Collect

Stuff You Give Us Directly

When you reach out for a consultation or fill out our contact form, we'll ask for basics like your name, email, phone number, and details about your project. Sometimes clients share property info, budget ranges, timeline expectations - whatever helps us understand what you're looking for.

If we end up working together, we'll obviously collect more - contracts, site addresses, preferences, measurements, all that good stuff that goes into creating your space.

Technical Data

Like most websites, ours collects some automatic info - IP addresses, browser types, what pages you check out, how long you hang around. Nothing creepy, just standard analytics that help us understand how people use the site and where we can improve things.

We use cookies too (the digital kind, not the chocolate chip ones unfortunately). More on that below.

Photos & Project Materials

If you share photos of your existing space, property images, or inspiration pics, we'll hang onto those for project planning. After we complete a project, we might ask if we can use photos for our portfolio - but that's always with your permission first.

How We Actually Use Your Info

We're not in the business of selling data or spamming people. Here's what we do with your information:

  • Get back to you about project inquiries and consultations
  • Provide the architectural services you've hired us for
  • Send project updates, drawings, timelines, and all the usual project communication
  • Process payments and handle invoicing
  • Improve our website and figure out what content people actually find useful
  • Occasionally send newsletters or updates about our work (you can opt out anytime)
  • Comply with legal requirements when we have to

That's pretty much it. We're not gonna use your email to sell you random stuff or pass it along to third parties for marketing.

When We Share Your Data

Project Partners

Sometimes we work with contractors, engineers, consultants, or other specialists on your project. We'll share relevant info with them - but only what's needed to get the job done properly.

Service Providers

We use cloud storage, email services, accounting software - that sort of thing. These providers might have access to certain data, but they're bound by their own privacy agreements.

Legal Stuff

If we're legally required to disclose information (like a court order or regulatory requirement), we'll do what we gotta do. But that's rare and we'd only share what's absolutely necessary.

With Your Permission

If we want to feature your project in our portfolio, use photos for marketing, or share your testimonial, we'll always ask first. Your permission means a lot to us.

Keeping Your Data Safe

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information. Our website uses SSL encryption, we use secure cloud storage for project files, and we're careful about who on our team has access to what.

That said, no system is 100% bulletproof. We do our best, but we can't guarantee absolute security. If there's ever a data breach that affects you, we'll let you know as soon as we can.

We keep your data for as long as we're working together, plus however long we need it for legal or business purposes afterward. Completed project files typically hang around for about 7 years, which is standard in the architecture world.

Your Rights (Yeah, You've Got 'Em)

Under Canadian privacy laws (specifically PIPEDA), you've got several rights when it comes to your personal information:

Access Your Data

You can ask to see what personal info we have about you.

Correct Mistakes

If something's wrong or outdated, we'll fix it.

Delete Your Info

Request deletion, though we might need to keep some stuff for legal reasons.

Opt Out

Unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime you want.

Just shoot us an email at info@blazornvalthara.info or give us a call. We'll handle your request within a reasonable timeframe (usually within 30 days).

The Cookie Situation

Our website uses cookies - small files that get stored on your device when you visit. Here's what they do:

These are necessary for the website to function properly. They handle things like security, navigation, and basic features. You can't really turn these off without breaking the site.

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our site - what pages are popular, where visitors are coming from, that kind of thing. It's all anonymized data that helps us improve the experience.

These remember your choices and settings, so you don't have to keep re-entering information every time you visit. Makes things more convenient for you.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Just keep in mind that blocking certain cookies might affect how the website works for you.

Questions? Just Ask

Seriously, if anything here is unclear or you've got concerns about how we handle your data, don't hesitate to reach out. We'd rather have the conversation than have you wondering.
